Contact Switching Time

  • Arcs occur between the COM and NC contacts during chattering.
  • For an instance, the COM contact is not in contact with either the NO or NC contact.
  • Arcs occur between the COM and NO contacts during bouncing.

If the operating speed is too high, bouncing time increases. This causes repeated switching with minute contact gaps, which in turn increases contact wear due to arcing.
